Intense Pulse Light
Intense Pulse Light, or Photofacial, therapy is a treatment to correct skin blemishes such as sun spots, unwanted tattoos, and rosacea. It uses specially selected wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin, reaching selective chromospheres (for example, hemoglobin, melanin, or tattoo ink) that are causing skin blemishes. Light is pulsed across the affected skin, heat is then generated which “cooks” and destroys the pigment and vessels. The body then absorbs the damaged tissue, resulting in clearing of the skin.
Results for this therapy do vary individually and are not guaranteed to be successful; clinical outcomes are highly variable.
