Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection Therapy
As your skin ages, natural collagen production decreases and your skin loses its elasticity. The result is wrinkles, lines, and sagging skin. Your own blood contains the ideal life-giving, fundamental growth factors and platelets needed to restore and repair your skin.
Platelets are the cells in your blood plasma that are responsible for stimulating blood flow to an injured area and increasing collagen production. PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy gives localized areas of your skin that are showing signs of aging an increased number of your own platelets to generate new collagen. Because the treatment uses your own blood there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or intolerance. This makes PRP Skin Rejuvenation Therapy a safe, natural and minimally invasive anti-aging treatment for almost everyone!
Since PRP does not contain any synthetic products and uses your own blood components, any area of your body can safely be treated with this technique. You may also have heard of PRP treatments used by Orthopedic Doctors to treat joint injuries and arthritis, especially in athletes.
Cosmetically areas often treated are:
- fine lines & “crow’s feet” (wrinkles around the eyes)
- sags and dark circles under the eye
- wrinkles on forehead neck, and lips
- acne scars and other bodily scars
- nasolabial folds
Platelet Rich Plasma Skin Rejuvenation Therapy begins by drawing two small tubes of blood from your arm, just like a simple blood test. The tubes are then placed in our centrifuge machine to separate blood from plasma. Your plasma is then prepared and re-injected into the area being treated, where skin rejuvenation is desired. The entire process is completed, one at a time, in our lab and treatment room within the same appointment – your blood never leaves our clinic. A typical treatment protocol involves four treatments three to four weeks apart; however, this may be adjusted based on your priorities and skin condition.
With every cosmetic treatment, results will vary from person to person based on age, health, and lifestyle. Typically after treatment, you will notice fine lines and wrinkles appear softer and deeper wrinkles and folds are plump and smooth. This will gradually change to reveal lasting improvement in your skin texture and tone. Improvement continues as your body uses the newly injected plasma cells to build new collagen. In fact, subtle improvements can progressively continue for up to a year after treatment. The benefits of PRP are long lasting, often up to two years!
