The most important thing to acknowledge about a virus, is that unlike bacteria, drugs, food or most supplements do not easily vanquish it. The second thing to realize about a virus such as COVID-19 is that your ability to fight it off has to do with the strength of the immune system that you were born with and how well you nourish that immune system with an appropriate diet.
Foods That May Help Fight the Corona Virus
The great thing about most of these foods is that they are every day items found in your kitchen cupboard or at your local corner store.
Cinnamon – Cinnamon is famous for for its anti-viral properties, which have known to treat common cold and flu. It can be used in both savory and sweet dishes or taken as a supplement.
Dill – Dill is a powerful natural antibiotic that is also known for its antiviral properties, and also it’s ability to settle an upset stomach.
Garlic – Garlic is one of the world’s strongest anti-viral agents, and it also contains a broad spectrum of anti-bacterial substances. To successfully fight off strong viruses, the garlic must be eaten as raw as possibly, ideally grated into salad dressing or on top toast
Ginger – Ginger is not only an anti-viral agent but it also treats diarrhea and any form of congestion in the chest. A drink made with juiced limes and ginger and then sweetened with honey is a great defense against the common cold.
Leafy Greens and Vegetable Tops – Leafy greens and vegetable tops are rich in vitamin B and folic and help boost the ability of red blood cells to fight off viruses. Kale, spinach, chard, watercress, bok choy and cabbage all help to develop the internal strength to fight off viruses.
Lemon and Limes – Lemons and limes are naturally anti-septic, anti-viral and very rich in vitamin C, which helps to vanquish viruses. Make a lemonade or limeade from fresh fruit and sweeten with honey to soothe the sore throat that is part of the virus.
Turmeric – Turmeric is a potent anti-biotic and anti-viral spice, that is usually added to curries and other savory dishes, but you can also take it in supplement form. It is available as a powder, but if you really want to turbo-charge your immune system, grate it raw into a salad or a smoothie.
Yogurt and Kefir – Plain yogurt and kefir are foods that are loaded with “good bacteria” that helps boost your immune system by making your overall system less toxic. This allows your body’s immune system to better deal with a virus because it is able to expend energy on fighting invaders rather than toxic loads in the gut.
Of course, if you are facing a situation where there is hoarding in your neighborhood, then you may not be able to obtain all of these foods, but having as many of them possible, whether in fresh or dried form, is a good idea.
