Healthy Fruit Tea with Lemon and Cinnamon by Marco Verch

Both ginger and cinnamon are considered to be warming spices that are great for firing up your metabolism during the cold winter months. Drinking a warm or ice tea made from these two common spices can help you lose weight because they work synergistically with each other to facilitate weight loss including

*Stimulating the circulation so the body clears fats and toxins out of the bloodstream more efficiently

*Stimulate the peristalsis in the colon to remove excess waste that may be impairing its function

*Cleanse the digestive system of microorganisms and, fungi and parasites that may be sabotaging weight loss by secreting excess hormones

*Halt the growth of the yeast Candida that contributes to metabolic disorders and weight gain

*Helps to induce bile from the gall bladder, which helps reduce cholesterol

*Lower blood sugar in people with metabolic disorders such as insulin resistance and Type II Diabetes

Both ginger and cinnamon consist of unique essential oils that calm cravings and help suppress appetite, which is desirable during the winter months when we tend to crave more carbs.

How to Make Cinnamon and Ginger Tea==

To lose weight using ginger and cinnamon, brew a tea made from fresh ground cinnamon bark and grated fresh ginger. You can substitute powdered cinnamon but it will not have as many active ingredients like the fresh bark, which contains more of the essential oil.

Grate two teaspoons of ginger and add to a teapot. You can use regular ginger, or Jamaican ginger, which is a bit more bitter and hotter in flavor. Try to buy organic ginger whenever possible. Add half a teaspoon or so of freshly grated cinnamon bark.

Add a quart of boiling water to the teapot. You can keep rebrewing for two more brews if you want to make a lot of this elixir. As the grated ginger and cinnamon have the consistency of ground coffee, it is quite easy to make this tea in a French press style espresso maker.

Drink a cup or two while hot and bottle the rest for later. You can also add a squeeze of lemon or even apple or cranberry juice to this weight loss cocktail. You can also add it to a cup of black tea or green tea, which are also great beverages for weight loss. This type of tea mix will keep three days in the refrigerator.

Drink 8 ounces of the tea first thing in the morning and another before you go to bed. For many, this can result in a two-pound loss of weight a week. You can drink the tea as often as you like during the day to lose even more pounds.

Ways to Add More Cinnamon and Ginger to Your Diet

You can use the ginger and cinnamon tea brew as a base liquid that can be added to other dishes that you make. Ginger and cinnamon can also be grated and added directly to any dish.

Add a bit of the cinnamon ginger tea or the spices themselves to any broth, soup or dish containing sweet potato, squash or carrots. Cinnamon and ginger complement the sweeter flavors of these vegetables well.

Add your favorite masala mix or curry to cinnamon and ginger tea to make a quick, healthy East Indian style sauce for vegetables and meats. This is particularly delicious on cauliflower and in hot pea or lentil soups and dishes.

Add the ginger and cinnamon tea brew to weight-loss smoothies. Ginger and cinnamon go especially well in drinks with a banana, vanilla or cocoa base.

Add one teaspoon of turmeric along with two teaspoons of the ginger and cinnamon to a glass of warm milk. This soothing drink is a common remedy for obesity, liver problems, and insomnia. Consume it before bed.

The above weight loss tonic particularly recommended for those trying to reverse a metabolic syndrome or with Type 2 diabetes.
