Watermelon can help you lose weight!

Watermelon can help you lose weight!

As of today summer has officially begun, which means that watermelon is in season. However, be aware, that not every watermelon is born equal! Those gargantuan melons sold in discount grocery stores tend to be genetically engineered and have little flavor, whereas those bought at your local farmer’s market, will be sweeter. When buying go for the smaller, organic seeded melons, which tend to be less bland. Look to see if the seller has any samples of what the watermelon looks riper and redder the inside of the watermelon is, the more lycopene it contains. Lycopene is a powerful antioxidant that helps clear your body of toxins, prevent cancer, support eye health, relieve nerve pain, strengthen your bones and facilitate weight loss!

All About Buying and Eating Watermelons

When buying a watermelon you should look for a specimen that has a yellow patch on one side, as that is proof that it has been ripening outdoors on the ground and that it is reasonably fresh. A ripe watermelon will sound a bit like a hollow drum when you tap it lightly. The redder it is on the inside, the more lycopene it contains, which is its main prized antioxidant

Some other helpful things to know about eating this fruit
